My fingertip moment on the field path
I’ll admit it: I’m a poodle owner who long believed she had dog walks completely under control. Every evening my poodle Fritz trots with me along the field path behind our neighbourhood, sniffs every blade of grass and then picks the perfect spot for his business with great seriousness. I always carried poop bags, tidy as I am. And for his bottom I also kept a pack of wet wipes in my jacket pocket.
Sounds organised, right? In practice it looked like this: leash over the wrist, peel the pack open with one hand, pull out a wipe that of course sticks to the next one, then reach behind the dog with pointed fingertips. That is the fingertip moment so many dog owners know. Only a thin wipe sits between your fingers and your dog’s bottom, and Fritz finds exactly that second ideal for taking a step forward.
Then came act two: wipe somewhere, tear a poop bag off the roll, hand in, pick up the poop, tie a knot. In the end I had two things to throw away and the feeling of having performed a small choreography. Elegant it was not.
The honest comparison: wet wipe plus poop bag vs. dogpaper
In the comments we often read: ‘Baby wipes plus a poop bag are enough.’ And honestly: yes, they get the job done. I did it that way for years. Still, a calm look at the differences is worth it, without any finger-wagging.
First, your fingers. With a loose wipe, your fingers are protected by one thin layer, and the wipe can slip. With dogpaper, your hand sits inside the bag like in a glove. The soft hygiene paper is on the outside of the poop bag, your fingers stay completely inside. No slipping, no regripping.
Second, the waste. With wipe and bag I have two items in my hand, and the used wipe has to go somewhere too. With dogpaper there is exactly one bag: it wipes the bottom and picks up the poop in the same move. Then it is turned inside out, knotted and dropped into the next bin along the path.
Third, time. Instead of two steps one after another, it is one single routine. Fritz barely has time to wonder before everything is done.
Hand in, wipe, grab, knot: how it works
The best thing about dogpaper dog hygiene paper is that you don’t need to learn anything new. Every dog walker knows the movement from an ordinary poop bag. Just one small step is added.
1. Hand in: As usual, put your hand into the bag. The hygiene paper is on the outside, facing the dog.
2. Wipe: Right after the business, on the spot, gently wipe once under the tail across the bottom. Fritz stands, I crouch beside him, and it takes seconds.
3. Grab: With the same hand in the same bag, pick up the poop. Thanks to the paper, dogpaper even picks up more residue from the ground than a smooth plastic bag. On softer days that is a real plus.
4. Knot: Turn the bag inside out, tie it, toss it. Used bags go into the residual waste like any other poop bag.
Hand in, wipe, grab, knot. That’s all. And yes, the first time I laughed out loud because I couldn’t believe how simple it is.
St. Martin, lanterns and the evening walk in the dark
In November it gets dark early, and the after-work round with Fritz suddenly happens at dusk. At the edge of the village the first St. Martin’s lanterns are glowing these days, and I catch myself humming the old lantern song. Our own little rhyme for it: lantern, lantern, poop gone, no concern!
In the half-light you really notice how pleasant a single grip is. Juggling a torch, a leash and a pack of wipes is a stunt I don’t need an audience for. With dogpaper one free hand is enough: bag out of the pocket, hand in, done. Nothing to untangle, nothing to search for.
St. Martin shared his cloak. These weeks we are sharing the benefit on the big supply box, so the evening walk stays one easy grip even in the dark. That way you have enough bags for every round of the darker season ready on the leash.
Why one bag is simply enough
dogpaper is the only product in the world that combines hygiene paper and a dog poop bag in one. The idea is simple: every responsible dog owner carries a poop bag anyway. So why not turn the daily pick-up into a small hygiene moment as well?
Toilet paper is a matter of course for us and no taboo. Dogs can’t wipe their own bottom after their business, so we take care of it for a second. Fritz walks on visibly more relaxed afterwards, and I have clean fingers and just one single bag to throw away.
My honest verdict after the comparison: wet wipe plus poop bag works, dogpaper is simply more convenient. One bag instead of two items, your hand stays inside, everything done in a few seconds right on the field path. If you’re curious, try it on your next evening walk. And maybe afterwards you’ll ask yourself the same question I did: did you wipe your dog’s butt today?
Wipe the butt and pick up the poop – in one single move
After your dog has done its business, put your hand into the dogpaper bag as usual, wipe its bottom once and pick up the poop in the same grab. Turn the bag inside out, knot it, throw it away – done. Try it: 1 single pack (8 uses) for €1.99.
